Centre not responsible for Cong promises: Kishan

Hyderabad: Dismissing claims by chief minister A Revanth Reddy that there would be gross injustice to southern states, including Telangana, after delimitation of the Lok Sabha constituencies, Union minister and BJP Telangana president G Kishan Reddy on Saturday said the number of Lok Sabha seats in Telangana will remain unchanged even if the population decreases. He said Prime Minister Narendra Modi had made a clear statement (regarding the delimitation exercise) in the Lok Sabha.
“Both Revanth Reddy and Tamil Nadu CM MK Stalin were misleading the people. The guidelines on delimitation will be issued only after conducting Census and constitution of reorganisation committee on the Lok Sabha. Stalin has raised the issue as the state will go for assembly elections next year,” Kishan Reddy said, while addressing a press conference at the BJP office on Saturday.
On the govt’s all-party meeting with state MPs, Kishan Reddy said the Centre would fulfil the promises made to the Telangana people and complete projects that have already been sanctioned. “In what way the Centre is concerned about the promises made to the people by Rahul Gandhi, Sonia Gandhi and Revanth Reddy during the polls,” he asked.
The Union minister said Revanth Reddy knew about the borrowings of then BRS govt, which was now 7.5 lakh crore before coming to power, but gave promises like six guarantees and 420 sub guarantees to the people only with an aim to grab power.
He said some national highways and projects were getting delayed due to land acquisition issues. “The Centre has already spent 6,280 crore for the northern arm of the Regional Ring Road, while estimates have already been prepared and pegged its cost at 18,772 crore . If the state govt hands over the land, the works will begin,” the Union minister said.
Kishan Reddy said 10 national highway stretches were ready for inauguration in Telangana and Union minister Nitin Gadkari would inaugurate them soon. He further said various road projects were pending for want of land.
