
The ‘Run for Action-2025’ being flagged off near Necklace Road’s People’s Plaza on Saturday to celebrate International Women’s Day.
The Hyderabad Police organised ‘Run for Action-2025’ near Necklace Road’s People’s Plaza, drawing a crowd of 5,000 participants in celebration of International Women’s Day.
The event was inaugurated by Minister for Panchayati Raj, Rural Development, Rural Water Supply, Women and Child Welfare, Danasari Anasuya Seethakka along with Director General and Commissioner of Police C.V. Anand. The dignitaries flagged off the 5K and 2K runs.
Addressing the gathering, the Minister expressed her pleasure in joining the event and lauded the Hyderabad City Police for their initiative in boosting women’s confidence. She emphasised the importance of equality, recalling the United Nations’ resolution on equal pay for equal work, and commended the efforts of law enforcement in ensuring the safety of women in Hyderabad.
Mr. C.V. Anand stressed the importance of prompt action for women’s safety, noting that eight out of 20 Deputy Commissioners of Police (DCPs) in the Hyderabad Commissionerate are women. He further revealed that 30% of the city’s 18,000 police personnel are women and announced the appointment of four women inspectors as Station House Officers (SHOs) for law and order and traffic police stations in honour of Women’s Day. He highlighted the crucial role women play in various sectors while managing family responsibilities, calling for greater recognition of their contributions.
Following the run, winners of the 5K and 2K categories were handed over prizes by Mr. C.V. Anand.
The event saw the participation of senior police officials, including Vikram Singh Mann, Additional CP (Law and Order), P. Vishwa Prasad, Additional CP (Crime), Joel Davis, Joint CP (Traffic) and Parimala Hana Nutan, Joint CP (Admin), along with other DCPs and members of the Hyderabad City Security Council.
