Those involved in TDR bonds scam will not be spared: Narayana | Vijayawada News

Vijayawada: Municipal administration minister P Narayana told the assembly on Friday that appropriate action will be taken against the culprits in the transferable deposit receipts (TDR) bonds scandal after getting the CID and vigilance enforcement enquiry reports as the scandal caused huge losses to the exchequer. He said the value of the properties acquired by local bodies was escalated by production of fake documents and grabbed TDR bonds with massive value.
The minister said about 393 bonds were issued in Visakhapatnam city. “Irregularities were committed in the issuance of TDR bonds not only in Visakhapatnam but also in Tanuku and Tirupati municipal corporations. Bonds worth Rs 754 crore were issued against the actual value of just Rs 63.24 crore in Tanuku town. Similarly, the authorities issued 29 bonds worth Rs 170.99 crore in Tirupati. Fake and bogus addresses inside the city were produced while the actual acquisition was done on the outskirts. Huge gains were made through the fake documents. There is no question of sparing anyone involved in the TDR scam. We will file criminal charges against all those found guilty in the vigilance and enforcement and CID probe,” asserted Narayana.
He further informed that the NDA govt stopped issuance of TDR bonds for about five months to take up investigation into the irregularities committed during the YSRCP regime. “About 965 TDR bond applications were pending with different urban civic bodies. Notices have been issued to about 482 applicants about the shortfalls and they would be granted TDR bonds once clarification is received. Bonds have been issued to about 218 beneficiaries while another 265 applications are under consideration,” he added.
Narayana said the govt has also decided to sell the unauctioned Rajeev Swagruha plots on as is where basis. The govt took up the Swagruha project way back in 2007 at 10 different locations and it was found unviable by 2011. Subsequently, the govt scrapped the scheme and asked the Swagraha corporation to dispose of the unsold properties.
