Avoid venturing out between 12 pm – 4.30 pm, Telangana Health Department issues advisory-Telangana Today

Hyderabad: With IMD-Hyderabad forecasting gradual rise in maximum temperature by 2 to 3 degree Celsius during next 3 days in Telangana State, the State health department on Sunday has issued an advisory, urging people to take precautions, especially avoiding venturing out between 12 noon and 4.30 pm, when the heat is at its peak.

The Director of Public Health (DPH), Dr B Ravinder Nayak has urged people to stay hydrated, drink sufficient water, as and when possible. “Use Oral Rehydration Solution (ORS), and consume homemade drinks like lemon water, butter milk / salt – sugar solution, fruit juices etc. Carry water during travel and eat seasonal fruits and vegetables with high water content like water melon, muskmelon, orange, grapes, pineapple, cucumber, lettuce or other locally available fruits and vegetables,” he said.


The health department urged people to stay covered, wear thing loose cotton garments preferably light coloured and cover head by using umbrella, hat, cap, towel and other traditional headgears during exposure to direct sunlight.

“Stay indoors as much as possible in well ventilated and cool places. Keep windows and curtains closed during the day, especially on the sunny side of your house. Open them up at night to let cooler air in. Limit your outdoor activity to cooler times of the day i.e., morning and evening open doors and windows to ventilate the cooking area adequately,” Dr Nayak advised.

When to meet a doctor?

Seek immediate medical attention, If you notice, altered mental sensorium with disorientation, confusion and agitation, irritability, ataxia, seizure and coma, hot, red and dry skin, body temperature more than 40 degree C or 104 F, throbbing headache, anxiety, dizziness, rapid heart beat.
