Two drivers killed as bus rams into parked truck in Adilabad

Hyderabad: Two drivers of a private bus died after their vehicle rammed into a parked DCM truck on National Highway-44 in Adilabad district early on Sunday morning. Adilabad police said that the bus was travelling from Hyderabad to Jabalpur in Madhya Pradesh.
Around 4:30am, bus driver, Pradeep Kumar, 30, failed to notice that a DCM was parked dangerously on the road and hit if from the rear.
“The bus driver, Pradeep Kumar, and reserve driver, Lochan Kumar, 30, died on the spot. They were crushed in the cabin. Apart from them, 10 passengers were injured,” Adilabad Rural police said. Pradeep was a native of Chhattisgarh, while Lochan was from Madhya Pradesh. Police said the DCM was parked in the middle of the highway next to the median. The driver didn’t turn on the parking lights and also failed to take other precautions.
“Eyewitnesses said the DCM was stopped on the road and the driver, after disembarking from the vehicle, was observing it from some distance. It is suspected that the DCM broke down. After the accident, the DCM driver fled from the spot,” police said.
On learning about the accident, police reached the spot and shifted the injured passengers to the hospital. It took nearly two hours for police to retrieve the bodies of the two drivers. The officials had to use an earthmover to remove the bodies from the crushed cabin. Police registered a criminal case against the missing DCM driver.
