Farmer attempts to set himself ablaze in Hyderabad’s Ibrahimpatnam-Telangana Today

Hyderabad: A farmer doused himself with fuel and attempted to set himself ablaze at Ranga Reddy district Collector’s office at Ibrahimpatnam alleging the officials were forcefully trying to acquire his land for laying a road.

The police who were present at the office overpowered the farmer and snatched away the fuel bottle from him.


In a representation later submitted to the officials, a group of farmers stated that they own patta land in survey no 13 of Ravirala village and they are eking livelihood by doing agriculture work. They further complained that since a few days, some officials were visiting them and asking them to allow road works in their fields.

The farmers protested that they have no alternatives job and solely live on agriculture work. They demanded that if the government wants to lay roads through the fields they should be paid compensation in accordance with the prevailing market rates.
