Vijayawada: The cabinet sub-committee on land allotment to institutions in the capital city Amaravati has decided to cancel the allocations to 13 organisations that had previously received land in the capital city. The committee has also decided to continue the allotment to 31 of the 131 firms without making any changes.
The meeting was attended by ministers Dr P Narayana, Payyavula Keshav, Kandula Durgesh, Kollu Ravindra, TG Bharath. The committee has decided to continue the policy initiated between 2014-19 for allotment of land to different institutions and private firms.
Speaking to the media after the meeting, Dr Narayana said that they have already initiated discussions with various institutions and firms which were granted land in the capital city in the past to find out their latest position. He added that govt is ready to allocate land to firms who are still keen to set up their offices in the capital city.
“There is high enthusiasm among the institutions and firms to return to Amaravati with investment. We are carefully making allocation of land keeping in view of the overall needs of the capital city,” said Narayana.
The minister said that the sub-committee decided to make allocations to two other institutions in a different place instead of the location where they were given in the past.
“We have also decided to make some changes to the extent of land granted to as many as 16 firms. They will also get land in different location in view of the growing demand for land in the capital city,” Narayana added.
He also said that they have already finalised the tenders for about 9,000 crore of the total 48,000 crore work that went for tenders. He said that they would finalise the tenders of remaining works in a week to put the works on the fast track.
“We are happy to announce that major works in the capital city will be launched in a couple of days,” said Narayana.
Finance minister Payyavula Keshav said, not a single rupee of the people’s money is being spent for the capital. He said that Amaravati will be built only with the sale of land. He stressed that chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu has designed the capital city as a self-finance city and they would not deviate from the model.
Keshav continued that Amaravati would repay its debts on its own as CRDA has big landbank in its kitty. He said that they would not spend even a rupee from the taxpayers’ money for the construction of the capital city. He criticised YSRCP chief YS Jagan Mohan Reddy for deliberately destroying the capital city with vested interests and said that Jagan had also tried to sow the seeds of apprehensions among the people but they did not trust him.
“We will not allow people from any other regions to feel that their hard-earned monies have been spent on Amaravati. The capital city will earn its own monies without depending on the state exchequer,” said Keshav.
He added that they would allocate land to only those firms that are serious about investing in Amaravati. He also said that they have set timelines to launch the works and complete after the allocation of the land.
