Honda has announced an ambitious plan for the Indian market, with major focus on expanding its SUV lineup with five new models and developing a new global platform. The upcoming range will include the electric Elevate, a three-row SUV (based on the Elevate), a subcompact SUV, ZR-V and the new-generation City sedan. Here’s a brief overview on the forthcoming Honda SUVs –

Upcoming Honda SUVs In India

Honda ZR-V

The Japanese automaker is considering the ZR-V hybrid SUV for India. While there is no official word on its launch timeline, reports suggest it could arrive by the end of 2025 or early 2026. In global markets, the Honda ZR-V is offered with a 2.0L petrol engine, paired to two electric motors and an electric CVT automatic gearbox. This setup produces a combined power output of around 180bhp, though it varies by market. In India, the ZR-V could also be offered with a 1.5L turbo petrol engine, mated to a CVT gearbox and an AWD system.

The upcoming Honda 7-seater SUV will mark debut of the brand’s all-new PF3 architecture. It’s one of the much-awaited upcoming Honda SUVs in India. The model will enter into series production in October 2027, which will be followed by its launch. Details of the SUV are scanty at this moment. However, it’s expected to share the 1.5L naturally aspirated petrol engine with the Elevate SUV and the strong hybrid powertrain with the City sedan. Its design and development work will be conducted by Honda’s Japan and Thailand R&D centers, with inputs from Honda India.

Honda Elevate EV

The electric version of the Honda Elevate midsize SUV will hit Indian roads in 2026. Once launched, it will go head-to-head against the Tata Curvv EV, Hyundai Creta Electric, MG ZS EV and the upcoming Maruti e Vitara. Honda will make a few EV-specific changes to its design and interior. The Honda Elevate EV will come under the brand’s ACE (Asian Compact Electric) project. As per media reports, nearly 50-70 percent Made-in-India electric Elevate will be reserved for export.

Honda Subcompact SUV

The forthcoming Honda sub-4 metre SUV will be designed on the PF2 platform, which will also underpin the new-gen City and the 7-seater SUV. This model is likely to arrive in the first half of 2029. It is expected to share several design elements and features with the Honda Elevate, which will help the carmaker achieve competitive pricing. Under the hood, it might feature a 1.5L naturally aspirated petrol engine.
