A couple allegedly killed their two children before ending their lives at Habsiguda in Hyderabad, the police said on Tuesday, adding that the couple was struggling with financial difficulties, which is believed to have led to their tragic actions.
The incident was reported after the residents informed the police about their bodies lying in the house. Acting on the inputs, the local police rushed to the site and found the bodies of the couple in separate rooms, while their children were found dead on the bed.
Initial probe revealed that the couple first strangled their children to death, before hanging themselves, according to Osmania University police station’s inspector N Rajender.
“The incident happened at around 9:30 pm at their residence at Ravindranagar Colony in the Habsiguda area. We rushed to the spot after getting a call from neighbours and began an investigation,” he added.
The police recovered a note, allegedly written by the man, at the scene, revealing that he was struggling with financial difficulties and health issues.
The bodies of the family members have been taken to the Gandhi Hospital for post-mortem, said officials, adding that an investigation into the matter is underway.
According to the police officer, the family hailed from Mukuralla village in Kalwakurthy block, Mahabubnagar district, and had relocated to Habsiguda a year ago.
The man, who had earlier worked as a lecturer at a private college, had been unemployed for the past six months.
