Ramadan, the holy month for Muslims, is one of the Five Pillars of Islam. The core beliefs and practices of Islam are encapsulated in the Five Pillars, which are considered obligatory for all Muslims to fulfil during their lifetime.

According to Khaleej Times, “The Five Pillars of Islam are Shahada: The declaration of belief in one true God; Salah: Five-time daily prayer, facing Makkah, including ablution before prayer; Zakat: Charity or giving to the poor; Hajj: Pilgrimage to Makkah at least once in their lifetime; and Sawm: Fasting during Ramadan.”

Sehri or Suhoor is the meal consumed before the beginning of the fast at dawn, while the meal after sunset is called Iftar.

In India, the eleventh Roza (fast) will be observed by Muslims on 12 March 2025.
