TGSP commandant goes to console grieving friend; dies after falling in lift shaft

In a freak accident, 59-year-old Gangaram, the in-charge commandant of the 17^th Battalion of the Telangana Special Police (TGSP), Sardapur, Rajanna Sircilla district, died after falling in a lift shaft at an apartment complex in the district headquarters town of Sircilla late on Monday (March 10, 2025) night.

Sources said that Mr. Gangaram suffered grievous injuries when he accidentally slipped into the lift shaft while trying to get down from the third floor of the apartment building.

He was immediately rushed to the Government Hospital in the town. He succumbed to the injuries while undergoing treatment at the hospital a little while later. He had gone to the apartment complex to console a grieving friend, sources added. The deceased hailed from Nizamabad district.

In a statement, Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Bandi Sanjay Kumar condoled the death of Gangaram.
