Kia India aims to strengthen its market position by expanding its product portfolio with major focus on EVs, boosting production capacity, and growing its dealership network. This year, the South Korean automaker will also update its existing product lineup including the Carens and Seltos. The new Kia Carens facelift is set to hit showrooms in April, while the new-generation Seltos will arrive in late 2025. The company has also planned the Kia Carens EV, which will go on sale in June, 2025. Let’s take a closer look at all key details of this electric compact MPV.
- The Kia Carens EV will be based on the updated Carens, but will feature some EV-specific elements inside and out. Official details are yet to be revealed. However, the electric Carens is likely to feature a closed-off grille inspired by the EV9 and aero-optimized wheels.
- Similar to the Carens facelift, the MPV’s electric version might come with the Syros-like headlamp clusters and LED DRLs. At the back, it will sport vertically placed taillamps connected via an LED light strip.
- The interior of the Kia Carens electric might have a differently designed dashboard, new seat upholstery and trims. It could also be the first vehicle in its segment to offer Level 2 ADAS (advanced driver assistance system) suite. The spy images reveal that the new Kia Carens facelift will get a 360 degree camera, which will also be offered on its electric version.
- It would be quite early to comment on its powertrain. However, the reports suggest that the Kia Carens EV might borrow the 42kWh battery pack with a 135bhp, electric motor setup from the Hyundai Creta Electric. It offers a claimed ARAI range of 390km on a single charge.
- The Kia Carens EV prices are estimated to be around Rs 18 lakh for the base variant, and go up to Rs 26 lakh or above for the top-end variant.
