Ayushmann Khurrana’s next film, “Thama,” is creating a huge buzz as it is set to conflict with Kartik Aaryan’s unnamed film, rumoured earlier to be “Aashiqui 3,” during Diwali 2025. The name of the movie was initially proposed as “Vampires of Vijay Nagar” but changed to Thama for adding a touch of more desi and folklore-sourced flavour to it.
Rashmika Mandanna’s Thama is uniquely inspired by Indian mythology., notably from the legendary character Ashwatthama due to his immortal nature and decisive role in the Mahabharata.

Ashwatthama has been an interesting character in Indian mythology, and his character was also seen in the movie “Kalki 2898 AD,” where Amitabh Bachchan stole the limelight along with Prabhas.
This association brings an element of mystery to Thama, which is going to be a horror-comedy love story. Starring Ayushmann Khurrana and Rashmika Mandanna, the movie is a part of Dinesh Vijan’s horror-comedy universe, which has already seen successes in the form of Stree.

With Rashmika Mandanna on a golden streak, “Thama” might be able to follow the success of Stree 2, hoping to reach a 500-crore mark if done well.
The combination of vampire mythology and Rashmika Mandanna’s Thama might appeal to audiences, making “Thama” a must-watch in 2025.
