A major fire broke out in the hostel room of NIT Warangal
Warangal: A major fire broke out in Room No. 1244 of Rammapa Hostel at NIT Warangal on Wednesday. According to reports, the fire raged for more than half an hour before any attempts were made to extinguish it.
Students claimed that the hostel premises were not well-equipped to handle such emergencies. “The hostel building has a fire hose, but it has no water. There is no fire alarm system, and there were no working fire extinguishers on the entire floor. Students had to bring them from elsewhere to put out the fire,” said a student.
Reportedly, the authorities did not inform the fire brigade and instead asked security personnel and staff to extinguish the fire. Students who attempted to record the incident on their phones were reprimanded by the chief warden, who allegedly threw their phones away, claimed a student.
