Land in our possession, not part of forest: Govt | Hyderabad News

Hyderabad: Amid row over govt’s move to auction 400 acres in Kancha Gachibowli, the Telangana State Industrial Infrastructure Corporation (TGIIC) on Tuesday clarified that the govt neither encroached upon University of Hyderabad (UoH) land nor disturbed existing water bodies or rock formations (Mushroom Rock).
The govt said that Buffalo Lake and Peacock Lake are not part of the 400-acre land being developed by TGIIC.
The 400 acres in survey no. 25 was allotted to IMG Academies Bharata two decades ago. The govt later cancelled the allotment. After a prolonged legal battle, the govt took possession of the land. The govt then handed it over to TGIIC for IT development and infrastructure.
A survey was conducted, and the layout is being taken up, preserving the rock formation, including green spaces within the layout, and survey observations were done. The govt clarified that as part of the master plan, a detailed Environment Management Plan is being prepared.
“The land has been in govt possession, recorded as govt land in the revenue records, and not a forest land,” the govt said. After TGIIC took over the land last year, it wrote a letter to the registrar, UoH, to entrust their officials to conduct the survey work to fix common boundary points on ground. The works began with the consent of UoH authorities.
The TGIIC issued a request for proposal (RFP) on Feb 28 for the selection of a transaction advisory for the optimisation of the master plan for the integrated development of 400 acres of the said govt land and providing assistance for auction as was done in the past for the development of similar projects. The project aligns with the govt’s priority to develop world-class IT infrastructure, improve connectivity, and create sustainable urban spaces, the govt said.
