Vijayawada: Chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu on Thursday said the benefits of the green energy revolution should reach every household. He mentioned that the cost of power production is going to decrease drastically with the scaling up of technologies. He urged the MLAs to make use of the PM Surya Ghar scheme, which will democratise power generation. He further set a target of providing 10,000 solar units in each of the 175 constituencies over the next year.
The green energy solutions are going to revolutionise power sector in the near future. Recalling those days when he introduced power sector reforms for the first time in the country back in the 1990s, Naidu said people should draw a distinction between TDP and other govts. Although the reforms benefited people by increasing productivity, TDP lost power as the then opposition misled people. However, the then Congress govt, which came to power in 2004, enjoyed the fruits of reforms. Despite benefiting politically, the then Congress and YSRCP govts completely neglected the power sector.
Explaining the importance of green energy sources, he said that the state govt is aiming to attract 10 lakh crore investments in the renewable energy sector, which will create 7.5 lakh jobs and make the state power surplus. Naidu said that the immediate target will be to reduce the power procurement cost from 5.16 to 4.80 in the next year. Ultimately, we aim to reduce procurement cost below 2 in the days ahead.
