There is this populistic term in Telugu Twitter called “Cringe” that is extensively used for films that don’t fall into their comfort zone. Almost all of Anil Ravipudi’s films are categorised in under this section.
The same happened with Sankranthiki Vasthunnam which released this Sankranthi season. On one hand, the film was going bonkers at the Telugu state box office and on the other, a section of Telugu Twitter batch kept calling it a cringe film.

However, in terms of popularism and public pulse, this film is an absolute winner. After a successful 300 crore gross at box office, it turned out to be a winner on small screens as well.
Reportedly, the film returned 18 TRP rating after its debut on ZEE Telugu, which was done simultaneously with the OTT debut on ZEE5 on the same day.

This evident that the film was not just a blockbuster in theatres but a winner on small screens as well. It is owned by the family audience to the fullest.
This perfectly invalidates the “cringe” category that a section of Telugu twitter so very heartily nurtures. It also reinforces that a film can work wonderfully well even outside the Twitter space which is largely opinionated.

Director Anil, who usually faces a lot of criticism on Telugu Twitter space would be least bothered about this, especially after delivering a big winner in the form of Sankrathiki Vasthunnam.
