T govt issues GO to set up Future City Development Authority | Hyderabad News

Hyderabad: The Telangana govt on Wednesday issued a GO to set up the Future City Development Authority (FCDA), covering an area of about 765 sq km, and to expand the Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA). The Telangana cabinet approved the two decisions last week.
The govt said the areas beyond the Outer Ring Road and between Nagarjuna Sagar and Srisailam Highway have witnessed rapid development in recent years and have become strategic and close to the Shamshabad International Airport. The GO stated that the Telangana State Industrial Infrastructure Corporation (TGIIC) proposed to develop industrial and economic clusters in the future city areas.
The government proposed metro rail connectivity and also radial roads in the future city. The govt also approved an extension of the HMDA jurisdiction from the existing 7,000 sq km to 10,452 sq km, covering 1,355 revenue villages, 104 mandalas and 11 districts. The HMDA, mostly within the Outer Ring Road, is now extended to the proposed Regional Ring Road.
