Kurnool records highest temperature in Andhra Pradesh at 41.2°C

Visakhapatnam: Andhra Pradesh continued to experience rising temperatures on Friday, with mercury levels increasing by one to three degrees Celsius across the state. Kurnool recorded the highest temperature, reaching 41.2 degrees Celsius, which is 3.7 degrees above normal.
According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), Anantapur recorded a maximum temperature of 40.4 degrees Celsius, followed by Nandyal at 40.1 degrees Celsius. In coastal Andhra Pradesh, Nandigama was the hottest, recording 39.6 degrees Celsius, while Jangamaheswarapuram in Palnadu district recorded 39.5 degrees Celsius.
The high humidity levels in coastal Andhra Pradesh made life challenging for residents, with relative humidity oscillating between 60 and 80 percent. Experts warn that the combination of heat and humidity can lead to severe health issues.
The IMD forecast indicates that heatwaves are likely to occur in isolated areas over coastal and Rayalaseema districts on Saturday. Maximum temperatures are expected to rise by 2-3 degrees Celsius over coastal Andhra Pradesh and Rayalaseema from Sunday.
Rising temperatures in parts of the Alluri Sitharama Raju district have led to a decline in tourist inflow over the past week. Chinapalle in the ASR district recorded temperatures above 33 degrees Celsius for several days.
