Retired officer found dead in bathroom

Vijayawada: A shocking incident unfolded in Tenali’s Nazarpet as decomposed body of a retired officer was discovered in his bathroom after four days. The deceased, identified as Nuthalapati Subramanyam (74), was living alone in a rented house in Sankavarikota Bazaar. He previously worked with the Geological Survey of India (GSI) before retiring.
According to Tenali One-Town sub-inspector Y Subbaiah, Subramanyam was separated from his wife and was living alone for more than a year. He had two children who are currently settled in Delhi. Locals reported that he was last seen on Monday afternoon, after which he did not step out of his house. Concern arose on Friday when neighbours noticed a foul smell emanating from the house and immediately alerted the police.
Upon arriving at the scene, the police, along with the village revenue officer (VRO), broke open the door, which was locked from the inside. They traced the source of the odour to the bathroom, which was also locked. After forcing it open, they found Subramanyam’s lifeless body lying on the floor. No external injuries were visible, leading authorities to suspect that he may have suffered a heart attack. However, the exact cause of death is yet to be confirmed, pending a postmortem report.
Police have registered a case and informed Subramanyam’s relatives about his passing. Further investigation is underway to determine the circumstances of his death.
