Hyderabad: Telangana is experiencing a significant rise in temperatures, with Nirmal recording the season’s highest temperature at 40.7° Celsius on Thursday. Weather forecasters have issued a warning for the coming weeks, cautioning that temperatures could soar to as high as 48°C by early April. According to the latest forecast, maximum temperatures are expected to gradually increase over the next few days, reaching 42°C in several districts.
On Friday, Adilabad (40.6°C), Mancherial (40.4°C), and Kumuram Bheem (40.4°C), surpassed the 40°C mark, signalling extreme summer conditions. Meanwhile, Hyderabad recorded 39.2°C, one of its hottest days of the season so far. Other districts such as Nalgonda (40.2°C), Peddapalli (40.2°C), and Jayashankar Bhupalpally (40.3°C) are also experiencing sweltering temperatures.
Residents are already feeling the scorching temperatures and this has also fuelled a surge in peak power demand as people rely on cooling appliances.
“It’s becoming unbearable by noon. We have to stay indoors for relief,” said a shopkeeper in Sindhi Colony. Authorities have advised citizens to take precautions, including staying hydrated, avoiding outdoor activities during peak hours, and wearing protective clothing. Health experts are warning of heat-related illnesses, urging particular care for children and the elderly.
