In a shocking incident, an unidentified man poured acid on an accountant in a temple in Hyderabad, following which the man was immediately shifted to Yashoda Hospital in Malakpet.

The incident took place under the Saidabad Police Station limits, where an unknown assailant was seen speaking calmly to a man named Gopi, while he was working in the Bhulakshmamma Temple, before suddenly pouring acid on his head. The suspect was seen running away while the victim was screaming in pain.

A CCTV footage of the incident went viral on social media. The victim suffered serious burns and injuries and was rushed to the hospital by the locals present in the area. Authorities have launched an investigation into the incident.

Locals and worshippers quickly gathered at the temple after the incident and staged protests, calling for the arrest and punishment of the attacker. Police increased security around the temple in the wake of the attack and assured protesters that action will be taken, as per reports.

The motive for the act remains unknown. Police are currently making efforts to identify the attacker – who fled on a motorcycle – based on the CCTV footage and other available evidence.

In unrelated news from Hyderabad, three people were arrested on Friday in Hyderabad for attempting to sell ganja-laced ice cream, kulfi, and sweets during Holi celebrations, according to Telangana Excise and Prohibition officials.

Acting on specific information, raids were conducted at multiple locations, leading to the apprehension of three individuals involved in preparing ganja-laced items, Excise Superintendent N Anji Reddy told PTI.
