Samsung has been offering its smartphones with a feature called Game Booster for quite a while now. It gives you many options to customise and enhance the gaming experience. That includes allowing you to change the performance, refresh rate, and set how the phone handles charging while gaming to avoid overheating, and other such things.
Samsung is now taking it even further by launching the Game Booster+ app for Galaxy phones in Korea. It’s a module for the brand’s Good Lock app, and offers you more options to customise and enhance the gaming experience. That includes options for remapping keys, changing specific GPU settings, and classifying apps as games.
Samsung Game Booster Plus app features
After installing the app, when you open it, you will see three options ‘Game controller key remapping,’ ‘Enable Game Booster GPU settings,’ and ‘Game category settings’ as you can see in the screenshot below.
Game controller key remappingas the name suggests, allows you to “remap the keys of the game controller to other desired keys.” This enables you to customise a game controller according to your taste. It even gives you the option to set up to four profiles, allowing you to use various profiles for various (types) of games.
Enable Game Booster GPU settings is the most interesting one. It gives you two GPU settings: PreTransform and Texture Filter. According to the company, the former is to ‘Offload the GPU in screen rotation of Vulkan games.’ Whereas, the latter can ‘improve texture quality.’ It gives you three options: Default, Performance, and Quality.
Game category settings allows you to ‘Set an unclassified game app as a game.’ In other words, if there’s a game or an app on your phone that it isn’t classified as a game (in which case you will not be able to use Game Booster with it), this feature lets you classify them as games (allowing you to use Game Booster with them).
Currently, Samsung has made Game Booster+ available on the Galaxy Store in Korea. However, people have extracted the APK from the platform and made it available to download for people in other regions. You can download it from a link posted by Tarun Vats on X. However, you should install apps only from sources you trust.
