CP defends Holi orders, says UP too had them

Hyderabad: In response to the comments received for a notification earlier issued by Hyderabad police in the run-up to the Holi festival, Hyderabad commissioner of police CV Anand, while calling them hatemongers, said that a similar order was issued by Uttar Pradesh police too.
Taking to Twitter on Sunday, he said, “Now I want to ask all those hatemongers, who posted so many things against police restrictions, did police stop you from celebrating Holi anywhere or interfere with your festivities? Police never does that, it only takes precautions and facilitates so that everyone enjoys their festivals in an orderly manner.”
While referring to different religious festivals, Anand said that all festivals were conducted peacefully without police interference. “Without those notifications, we cannot exercise those powers under the City Police Act, and all other police forces of the country, including the UP police, issue these notifications in advance to manage public order,” the commissioner of police said while attaching a few notifications, including the one issued by UP police.
