“Khaidi” (Kaithi in Tamil), featuring Karthi in the direction of Lokesh Kanagaraj, was a huge success, and the film catapulted the director to the top league. Released in 2019, the action thriller created a new kind of cinematic universe. Lokesh Kanagaraj announced a sequel to it long back.
But he went on to direct other films like “Vikram,” “Master,” and “Leo.” Today, Lokesh Kangaraju, on the occasion of his birthday, confirmed that “Khaidi 2” (Kaithi 2) will be rolling soon.

Dream Warrior Pictures and KVN Productions will produce the film in a grand manner. Production is expected to commence by late 2025 or early 2026, with a planned Diwali 2026 release.
Lokesh Kangaraju is currently filming “Coolie” with superstar Rajinikanth. The film also features other top stars like Aamir Khan, Nagarjuna Akkineni, and Upendra in key roles. He might take up “Khaidi 2” after the release of “Coolie.”
