The customary rituals for preparing ‘talambralu’ to be used in the April 6 ‘Tiru Kalyana Mahotsavam’ began on a traditional note in the historic Sri Seetha Ramachandra Swamy temple in Bhadrachalam on Friday coinciding with Holi festival after a ‘delayed’ conduct of ‘Ankurarpana’ (initiatory ritual) late on Thursday evening.

According to sources, the initiatory ritual was delayed by a few hours on Thursday evening following a controversy over the alleged sudden transfer of the deputy chief priest of the temple by the temple authorities, leading to ‘backlash’ from members of the Vedic committee.

Following strong objection from the temple priests, the transfer order has reportedly been kept in abeyance until the completion of the ensuing Srirama Navami Brahmotsavams-2025, scheduled to be held from March 30 to April 12. The mega annual religious events — Tiru Kalyana Mahotsavam and Maha Pattabisheka Mahotsavam — are slated to be held on April 6 and 7, respectively.

Meanwhile, Holi was celebrated with gaiety in Bhadrachalam. Special rituals — Dolotsavam and Vasantotsavam — were held in the historic temple, dedicated to Lord Sri Seetha Ramachandra Swamy, in the temple town.
