Revanth intensifies attack on KCR, vows to expose irregularities under BRS rule

Intensifying his attack on Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) president and former Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao, Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has once again challenged the former to a debate on irrigation sector issues, including Krishna water allocation agreements, projects undertaken during the BRS rule and the huge debts raised.

Speaking at a public meeting during the ‘Praja Palana – Pragati Bata’ programme at Shivunipalle near Station Ghanpur in the district on Sunday, Mr. Reddy said, “I am ready to discuss irrigation sector issues, including projects initiated during Congress and BRS rule. The debate can be held at any project site in the State.” He reiterated that most vital projects like Sriramsagar Project (SRSP), Nagarjunasagar and Srisailam in Telangana were constructed during Congress rule. He also accused the BRS government of wasting one lakh crores of rupees on the construction of the Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Project (KLIP), as it got damaged within three years.

Mr. Reddy also vowed to expose irregularities, that occurred during the BRS rule, in the Assembly on March 19 or 20 during the ongoing Budget session. He criticised the former chief minister for not attending the Assembly despite drawing a salary of ₹ 3.92 lakh per month for the last 15 months.

The Chief Minister also denounced the idea of calling KCR the ‘Father of Telangana’ (Telangana Jatipita), accusing him of looting and plundering the State. “KCR and his family have exploited Telangana people, and that makes him unworthy of being called Jatipita. Instead, Konda Laxman Bapuji or Prof Jayashankar deserve the title,” he said.

Mr. Reddy attributed the State’s severe funds crunch to the previous government’s debt burden. “We have paid ₹ 1.53 lakh crore towards principal amounts and interests on loans taken under BRS rule in the last 15 months. If not for this, we would have provided Indiramma houses to 30 lakh people and crop loan waivers to all the 75 lakh farmers.” He also accused the BRS leaders of attempting to dislodge his government though the people had given a mandate to the Congress party to be remain in power for five years.

The Chief Minister also assured the public that his government would disclose all details related to State revenues and expenditures during the ongoing Budget session to make people aware of the economic condition. He urged the people to cooperate with Congress in putting the State on the growth track and witnessing development.
