The Congress Government led by Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy is as “corrupt” as the previous BRS Government led by K. Chandrasekhar Rao and it has pushed Telangana further into a deep debt taking as many as loans too, alleged Telangana BJP President and Union Minister G. Kishan Reddy on Sunday (March 16, 2025).
“Sand mining business, liquor robbery, illegal land deals, sale of lands, taking more loans and high handedness— in all these aspects the current Government is similar to the BRS Government,” he charged at a press conference in the state office.
The BJP leader claimed that the debt left behind by the KCR regime has led to the Congress government taking more loans to pay the interest and has also admittedly taken another ₹1.50 lakh crore in the name of welfare schemes in the last 15 months. “So, what’s the difference between both Governments? What is the change and how have people benefitted? Where is the action plan to implement the promised guarantees before the elections,” he questioned.
Mr. Kishan Reddy said there is nothing objectionable about holding an all party meeting on the proposed delimitation exercise but parties like the DMK and Congress should not mislead the public with “falsehoods”. “Census operations is yet to begin after which the delimitation process will be done but there has been no discussion on the latter yet at the central level. The Delimitation Act followed by the Congress led UPA Government in 2009 will be adhered to even now,” he sought to clarify.
The DMK and Congress parties are spreading the bogey of delimitation and the three-language formula reflects their political bankruptcy. It is also because the Stalin Government is facing anti-incumbency with the Assembly elections ahead due to “corruption, high taxes, power tariff” and so on, he claimed.
The BJP president said making baseless allegations against Prime Minister Modi and the Centre on “imposition of Hindi” is for stoking regional passions and observed it is “not good” for the country’s unity and integrity. The three-language policy has been followed for decades and the Modi Government is keen to promote regional languages in non-Hindi states. Many steps have been taken to promote Tamil, he maintained.
