Bajaj Auto is working on a new electric scooter, which was recently caught testing with heavy camouflage, covering most of its design details. However, the test mule reveals some design elements similar to the Chetak EV. The new Baja electric scooter is likely to target budget-conscious buyers and will feature a smaller battery pack. This new model could be introduced as a more affordable version of the Bajaj Chetak electric scooter.
Expected Powertrain & Specs:
The forthcoming new Bajaj electric scooter is expected to feature a hub-mounted electric motor, delivering a maximum speed of around 50kmph. This means, it will be a good and affordable option for daily commuting. The scooter will come with the 12-inch front and rear wheels and a front disc brake. It will be equipped with the dual rear shock absorbers.

Chetak-Like Design:
The new Bajaj electric scooter seems to share some design elements with the Chetak electric, including the circular headlight. Unlike its premium electric sibling which has dual taillight setup, the new model has a single-pod taillight. It also gets fork covers and oval mirrors.
A Look at Bajaj Chetak’s Journey – Petrol to Electric
The Bajaj Chetak is an iconic scooter, which has evolved over the years right from petrol version to the modern electric iteration. The original petrol-powered Chetak was introduced back in 1972, and was discontinued in 2005 as the company shifted focus to the motorcycle segment. In early 2020, the Pune-based two-wheeler maker introduced the Bajaj Chetak electric under its Urbanite EV brand, initially offering it in Pune and Bengaluru.
Since its official launch in 2020, the Bajaj Chetak electric witnessed multiple updates, enhancing its performance and design. In 2023, this electric scooter expanded it reach over 100 cities with more than 40 exclusive Experience Centres. The Chetak EV was last updated in December 2024, with improved handling, better battery arrangement for more storage and a lighter chassis.
