Tata Motors, already a leader in the Indian EV market, plans to double its EV product portfolio amid increasing competition. To achieve this goal, the carmaker has committed an investment of over USD 1 billion and also introduced its high-end electric brand – Avinya. The first Avinya model will be a 5-door Sportback, which was showcased in its concept avatar (Avinya X) at the 2025 Bharat Mobility Show in January. It will be followed by an electric SUV, a smaller SUV (measuring nearly 4.4 metres in length), a large luxury MPV and a three-row SUV.

The production-ready Tata Avinya X is likely to come with all-new two-spoke steering wheel with multiple touch-based controls and a leather-wrapped centre. A recently leaked patent of the steering wheel reveal that the unit will have calls and music controls on the left side and cruise control and ADAS features on the right side. The steering wheel will have dual-tone finish.

This luxury electric SUV from Tata will have a large floating central infotainment system, dual-tone dashboard with concealed AC vents and a lounge-like 4-seater configuration. Features such as a panoramic sunroof, multi zone auto AC, a wireless phone charger, vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) and vehicle-to-load (V2L) charging capabilities, a 360 degree camera, an ADAS (advanced driver assistance system) suite will also be on offer.
The final production version of the Tata Avinya X is likely to receive a few practical cosmetic changes over the concept, while retaining most of the design elements. The concept features glossy black finishes on the front and rear bumpers, an expanded ‘T’ logo at the front and rear with LED lighting signature, two slim horizontal strips of DRLs with Matrix technology, large dual-tone wheels and sharply raked front and rear windscreens.
The Tata Avinya X will be built on the JLR’s EMA architecture. Its official specifications are yet to be revealed, but it’s reported to feature a large battery pack offering a range of over 500km. The Avinya EV will also support fast charging.
