Nissan plans to launch two new SUVs and a mass-market electric car in the Indian market by the end of 2026. The upcoming Nissan SUVs will essentially be re-badged version of the third-generation Renault Duster and 7-seater Duster, featuring a different design language. If reports are to be believed, the new Nissan SUV will be positioned as premium product than its donor sibling. It will have more features onboard than the new Duster, which will make it slightly pricier as well.
The new Nissan SUV will compete against the segment leader Hyundai Creta along with other midsize SUVs including the Maruti Grand Vitara, Kia Seltos, Honda Elevate, Skoda Kushaq, Volkswagen Taigun and Toyota Hyryder.

What to Expect?
Recently, a heavily camouflaged test mule of the Nissan midsize SUV was caught on testing in Brazil. As per media reports, this model will be manufactured at Nissan’s Resende (RJ) production facility. However, it’s unclear whether this is the India-bound new Nissan compact SUV or an all-new model for global markets. The spy images reveal a silhouette and size similar to the new-generation Kicks sold globally.
Expected Engine Options:
In India, the upcoming new Nissan SUV will be built on the CMF-B modular architecture and feature a 1.0L, 4-cylinder turbo petrol engine borrowed from the Magnite. The carmaker might also use a 1.2L turbo petrol engine with mild hybrid tech and a 1.5L naturally aspirated petrol engine. A 1.0L, 3-cylinder turbo petrol is also on the cards.
Design Details:
The overall design of the new Nissan SUV could be heavily inspired by the Magnite. It might feature the Y-shaped headlamps with DRLs and Y-shaped LED taillamps, 18-inch alloy wheels, C-pillar integrated rear door handles and plastic cladding on wheel arches.
Expected Launch Timeline:
The carmaker hasn’t yet confirmed the launch timeline, but media reports suggest that the upcoming Nissan SUV might hit showrooms in 2026.
