Elderly dalit man released after public outcry over alleged illegal detention by Hyderabad Police-Telangana Today


Venkataiah’s family alleged that the police illegally detained him for using abusive language while criticizing Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy’s administration. As the incident went viral on social media, people from all sections of society condemned the police’s actions and called for his immediate release.

Darshanam Venkataiah who was taken into custody by Hyderabad police released

Mahabubabad: An elderly dalit man Darshanam Venkataiah who was taken into custody by Hyderabad police on Wednesday afternoon was released from custody during the mid-night hours in the day.

Venkataiah’s family members complained that the police detained him illegally for criticising the rule of Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy with abusive language. After the issue went viral on social media all sections of the society condemned the police act and demanded his immediate release.


In view of the backlash from the public police dropped Venkataiah at his house without any further action much to the joy of family members and the villagers. It might be recalled that the police also arrested two journalists for posting a video in which Venkataiah expressed his views about the government and they were granted bail by the court.
