Samsung has made an Ultra-Wideband (UWB) chip for cars called the Exynos Auto UA100. It provides optimized connectivity for new-generation cars with several connected and smart features, like unlocking using a paired smartphone.

Exynos Auto UA100 features for connected cars
The Exynos Auto UA100, designed by Samsung’s System LSI arm, brings UWB connectivity to cars. It has advanced ranging technologies for centimeter-level accuracy and detects the vehicle’s direction with respect to the user’s location. This allows it to be used as a key fob for automatic vehicle unlocking.
It has a dual-core Cortex-M33 processor. The Exynos Auto UA100 includes RF, baseband, non-volatile memory (NVM), and a power management unit (PMU) on a single chip, making it a compact and easy-to-use solution for car brands. It is fabricated using Samsung Foundry’s 28nm process node and uses FCFBGA packaging technology.
The Exynos Auto UA100 meets some of the most stringent security certifications, including IEEE 802.15.4/15.4z UWB, FiRa PHY and MAC specifications, and CCC Digital Key (Release 3.0). The chip is currently being sampled by clients and go into mass production in the coming months.
