Hyderabad: A 42-year-old man who sexually abused a six-year-old girl was sentenced to 25 years in jail and fined 20,000 in Suryapet. The district court also ordered 5 lakh to be paid to the victim. The judgment was delivered on March 18.
Nallagattu Laxmaiah, who was convicted by the court, belonged to Kakaravayi village in Thirumalayi mandal in Khammam district. He went to Mothey mandal in Suryapet to visit a relative’s family.
Following the death of the relative on May 18, 2023, the victim’s mother from Mothey mandal also went to visit the relative’s family, where she met Laxmaiah, who was also related to her. As Laxmaiah told her that he would take care of her six-year-old girl for some time, she trusted him and left the child with him while she took care of her other daughter.
Laxmaiah sent the girl back after some time. Two days later, when her daughter fell ill, the mother took her to the hospital, where she was given some medication, but there was no improvement in her health.
Later, the girl opened up to her mother and told her how she was abused by Laxmaiah. The mother lodged a complaint with Mothey police station on May 29, 2023, following which a case was filed against Laxmaiah under the Posco Act, and he was arrested.
