Hyderabad: Congress MPs from the state organised celebrated at Telangana Bhavan in Delhi on Thursday over the assembly passing a bill to increase BC reservation to 42%.
Congress MLAs Kiran Kumar Chamala, Mallu Ravi and Anil Kumar Yadav and party leaders said it was a step in the right direction towards social justice. At Telangana Bhavan, the MPs beat drums and distributed sweets. They also garlanded a statue of B R Ambedkar.
“The promise made by Congress leader Rahul Gandhi during the election campaign has been fulfilled by the Congress party,” said Rajya Sabha member Anil Kumar Yadav, thanking chief minister A Revanth Reddy for the “historic decision” to provide reservations.
“It is a historic milestone in Indian political history,” said Chamala Kiran Kumar MP.
