Telangana is set to get some relief from the relentless heat as the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted thunderstorms in several parts of the State over the weekend.

According to a weather bulletin released on Wednesday, thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty winds are expected at isolated locations in Adilabad, Kumaram Bheem Asifabad, Nirmal, Nizamabad, Siddipet, Sangareddy, Medak and Kamareddy districts on Friday.

The alert is set to intensify on Saturday, upgrading to an orange warning as thunderstorms, lightning, gusty winds, and even hailstorms are likely to occur at isolated places in Nizamabad, Siddipet, Sangareddy, Medak, and Kamareddy districts.

Meanwhile, heatwave continued to grip Telangana on Wednesday, with 17 out of 33 districts recording maximum temperatures exceeding 40 degrees Celsius. Data from the Telangana Development Planning Society showed that Bheemaram in Mancherial registered the highest maximum temperature of 41.8 degrees Celsius.

This was followed by 41.3 Degrees in Bela (Adilabad), 41.2 Degrees in Mupkal (Nizamabad), 41.1 Degrees in Bejjur (Komaram Bheem Asifabad), and 41 Degrees in Bejjur (NagarKurnool). Additionally, 12 Districts Recorded Temperature Between 40 and 41 Degrees Celsius.

In Hyderabad, Asif Nagar recorded a maximum temperature of 39.9 degrees Celsius, while Dundigal Gandimaisamma in Medchal-Malkajgiri district reported a similar reading. The lowest maximum temperature in the State was recorded in Bachannapet (Jangaon) at 38 degrees Celsius.
