Tirupati: Kurnool police on Friday arrested five persons on charges of murdering TDP activist Kasapogu Sanjanna at Shireen nagar at Kurnool on March 14.
Addressing a press conference on Friday, Kurnool SP Vikrant Patil stated that the five arrested accused were identified as Vadde Anjaneyulu (52) and his three sons Siva Kumar (20), Tulasi (23), Revanth (22) and one Mala Ashok (30). They are all residents of Shireen Nagar locality. Investigation revealed that the deceased Sanjanna and prime accused Vadde Anjaneyulu had several disputes in the past and were involved in multiple attacks on each other to gain supremacy politically. Anjaneyulu hatched a plan and eliminated Sanjanna by executing an indiscriminate attack on him on March 14.
Following a complaint lodged by Sanjanna’s son Jagarlamudi, who is a local corporator, district police launched a detailed investigation in the case under the supervision of Mahila PS DSP K Srinivasachary. All the accused were taken into custody on Friday.
Police seized the weapons used in the murder, a car and mobile phones of the possession of the accused. SP Patil asserted that the district police wing has stepped up vigil on the movements of all rowdy sheeters in the district, and that every one with a crime history was being summoned and questioned at the local police stations on every Sunday.
