Community health officer murdered | Vijayawada News

Vijayawada: A 55-year-old community health officer was murdered by her supervisor in Brahmanpalli of Palnadu on Thursday night. The deceased, identified as Vasipalli Seetharathnam, was working at the Machavaram primary health centre (PHC) and was transferred from Krishna district seven months ago. She was living alone in Brahmanpalli at the time of the incident.
Seetharathnam, who started her career as an auxiliary nurse midwife, was promoted as a community health officer recently. According to Piguguralla inspector Venkat Rao, Mannem Srinivasa Rao, a supervisor at the same PHC, worked closely with Seetharathnam. He often travelled with her to villages for official duties. On Thursday night, he visited her residence, and an argument broke out between the two. Srinivasa Rao allegedly pushed Seetharathnam, following which her head hit against the wall.
Hearing her scream, local residents rushed to the scene but found her unresponsive they reached.
Srinivasa Rao was still present when the neighbours forced open the door and alerted the cops. Police are investigating the case.
