According to a media report, the Tata Group has partnered with Tesla to become the American EV maker’s global supplier for components. Tesla is setting up a local supplier base as it prepares to enter the Indian market. Tata Group companies such as Tata AutoComp, Tata Consultancy Services, Tata Technologies and Tata Electronics are said to be its key partners. Reports suggest that Tesla executives have met its current suppliers and discussed possible development and manufacture of castings, forgings, electronics and fabrication items. More than a dozen Indian companies are already supplying critical components to the American EV maker. These include Samvardhana Motherson, Suprajit Engineering, Sona BLW Precision Forgings, Varroc Engineering, Bharat Forge and Sandhar Technologies. Tesla is also having discussions with several state governments to set up a manufacturing base in India. These include Rajasthan, Gujarat, Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra and Telangana. Source: ET Auto
