12 students injured as bus collides with parked lorry

Vijayawada: Twelve students from a govt school in Machilipatnam in Krishna district, sustained injuries after the bus they were traveling in collided with a parked lorry near Uppuganduru in Prakasam district on early Saturday morning.
The group was returning from an educational tour to Chennai and Tirupati when the accident occurred.
Prakasam SP AR Damodar said 45 boys, 43 girls and 11 teachers had embarked on the trip for a science fair. Departing Machilipatnam on Wednesday, they visited institutions like the Leather Technology College in Chennai on Thursday and Acharya NG Ranga Agricultural University, the zoo park, and other locations in Tirupati on Friday. Their return journey began Friday night at around 10 pm.
The accident happened on NH-216 between Naguluppalapadu and Uppuganduru, leaving 12 students with minor injuries. Emergency services quickly transported the injured to Ongole RIMS hospital.
SP Damodar visited the hospital to ensure the injured students and teachers received the best medical care. He expressed concern over the incident, encouraging the students to stay strong and recover soon. He also directed hospital authorities to provide quality treatment.
During his visit, the SP contacted the students’ parents, and arranged video calls to reassure families of their children’s well-being.
