CRDA plans alternative roads amid metro work | Vijayawada News

Vijayawada: In anticipation of increased traffic congestion due to the commencement of metro rail corridor work from Gannavaram and the construction of a flyover from Mahanadu Road to Nidamanuru, authorities are prioritising the development of alternative roads to ease movement, particularly for lorries accessing Autonagar.
Vijayawada MP Kesineni Sivanath (Chinni) highlighted the urgency of expanding roads under the Capital Region Development Authority (CRDA) and ensuring alternative routes are in place before major infrastructure projects disrupt regular traffic. CRDA commissioner Kannababu, accompanied by MLA Gadde Rammohan Rao, inspected key roads, including Ballem Vari Street, Mahanadu Road, Shakti Kalyana Mandapam Road, and Tankasala Road in Autonagar, to evaluate potential improvements.
Authorities are also considering the Ramavarappadu to Kesaripalli route via SLV Grand as an alternative connection to Gannavaram. The MP and MLA urged CRDA officials to prioritize road development to safeguard the livelihoods of thousands of Autonagar workers who rely on smooth transport access.
Chinni emphasised that developing Ballem Vari Street and Mahanadu Road would ensure seamless access to Autonagar from Machilipatnam, Eluru, and Kolkata, maintaining uninterrupted industrial operations. MLA Gadde Rammohan Rao reaffirmed the state government’s commitment to long-term urban planning for Vijayawada’s growth.
CRDA commissioner Kannababu assured that road expansion and alternative routes would be developed with minimal inconvenience to the public. Senior officials and several VMC corporators participated in the review meeting.
