Springfield Thunderbirds Sign Anthony Kehrer To One-Year Deal

The Springfield Thunderbirds have signed defenseman Anthony Kehrer to a one-year deal, it was announced Friday.

Kehrer, who hails from Winnipeg, Man., will join the Thunderbirds on an amateur try-out for the rest of the season.

Having just wrapped up his fifth year at Wisconsin, Kehrer managed to score one goal and add 11 assists for 12 points in 35 games. Across 166 career NCAA games, Kehrer collected five goals and 27 assists for 32 points.

Before heading to the NCAA, Kehrer played two seasons in the USHL with the Sioux City Musketeers.

With Kehrer joining the Thunderbirds for the remainder of the season, he should have the opportunity to get his feet wet at the pro level and gain valuable experience. Combining the ability to contribute offensively and hold his own in the defensive zone, Kehrer will make his presence known at both ends of the ice.
