Continuous Medical Education workshop on emergency paediatric care organised in Andhra Pradesh’s Kurnool


Senior medical experts have emphasised that emergency situations can arise in children that require advanced medical treatments. To educate pediatricians on treatments like ECMO (Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation) and CRRT (Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy), KIMS Cuddles Hospital in Kurnool, in association with the Indian Association of Pediatricians (IAP), conducted a Continuous Medical Education (CME) workshop on Sunday.

Experts provided comprehensive details on extracorporeal therapies, including ECMO and CRRT, demonstrating the latest advancements during the workshop. State-of-the-art medical equipment was showcased, and simulation-based learning was given on their usage for emergency paediatric care. Experts also discussed modern technologies, techniques and protocols for performing CRRT in children, as well as challenges and successful case studies.

The workshop was preceded by an online lecture series on Saturday and an in-person training session on Sunday. This marked the first-ever CME event in Rayalaseema focussing on paediatric emergency care. IAP president Vijay Anand Babu, secretary V. Veera Ratnakar Reddy, and treasurer J.L. Prakash Anand highlighted the significance of this initiative.

KIMS Hospital COO Sunil Sepuri stated that the hospital not only delivers advanced medical care but also conducts educational programmes to enhance medical knowledge among Rayalaseema’s healthcare professionals, ultimately benefiting society with modern medical advancements.

Prominent doctors such as G. Sudhakar (APMC Conference Observer), Parag Dekate,Chetan R. Mundada, Babu S. Madarkar, Naveen Reddy, Ravikiran, Sahithi, Avinash Reddy, Kalyan and Suman participated, providing valuable insights to fellow paediatricians.
