Hyderabad: Three popular food outlets in Hyderabad have come under the radar of Telangana food safety officials for operating in unsanitary conditions. The officials, who conducted an inspection on Friday, flagged several violations in the restaurants.
Hotel Tulips Grand in Hayathnagar was pulled up by officials for unhygienic conditions in its cooking areas and storage premises. They also pointed out the lack of a proper drainage system in the kitchen and the absence of pest control records with the FBO.
In addition to these unhygienic conditions, food safety officials observed that expired products such as mushrooms, ice cream, poppy seeds, and meat were being used in the hotel.
State level task force team has conducted an inspection at the below establishment on 21.03.2025.

Similarly, a popular tiffin center in Gachibowli, Varalaxmi Tiffins, was also flagged for unsanitary conditions, unclean walls, and broken flooring in the kitchen.
Officials further criticized the clogged drains, uncovered dustbins, lack of proper food storage areas, and the presence of rats outside the kitchen. They also pointed out that the exhaust system was greasy, with oil dripping from it.
The tiffin center lacked a water analysis report and medical fitness certificates, the officials said.

Food safety officials also noted a large number of houseflies in the kitchen and reprimanded the use of synthetic food colours. The refrigerators were found to be unhygienic, with both vegetarian and non-vegetarian food stored together, the officials said.
Additionally, food handlers were not wearing head caps and gloves, and important records were missing, they added.
