Heavy rains sweep across north voastal AP

Visakhapatnam: Parts of north coastal Andhra Pradesh experienced moderate to heavy rainfall from Sunday to Monday, providing much-needed relief from the region’s hot and humid conditions.
Palakonda in Manyam district recorded the highest rainfall in the state at 7 cm, followed by 5 cm each in Veeraghattam and Parvathipuram (Manyam). Other areas included Balijipeta and Seethanagaram (Manyam) with 3 cm, Garividi and Cheepurupalle (Vizianagaram) with 3 cm, and Garugubilli, Komarada, and Jiyyammavalasa (Manyam) with 2 cm rainfall each.
Farmers reported that the rain, accompanied by gales in parts of Rayalaseema region over the weekend, caused damage to standing banana crops. Meanwhile, Nandyal registered the state’s highest temperature on Monday at 39°C, followed by 38.6°C in Kurnool and 37.9°C in Anantapur.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasts a rise in maximum temperatures by 2–4°C over coastal Andhra Pradesh and Rayalaseema starting Tuesday, March 25.
