Mumbai TV artist rescued from trafficking attempt in Hyderabad | Hyderabad News

Hyderabad: A small-time TV artist from Mumbai who came to the city for the launch of a saree store was allegedly assaulted and locked up by three women in a flat at Masab Tank after she refused to give in to the demands to engage in prostitution.
She was rescued by local police early on Sunday morning.
Based on her complaint, Masab Tank police registered a case for assault and under the Prevention of Immoral trafficking Act. They have also launched a hunt for the three women and a Mumbai-based agent. “The woman was sent for a medical examination, and her statement was also recorded. Further investigation in the case is underway,” said Parasuram Chukkapally, station house officer, Masab Tank.
According to the complainant, the agent sent her to the city for the event and offered Rs 20,000 for the job. However, after arriving here, she was allegedly forced into prostitution, she told the police. “Around a week ago, she got this offer from the agent identified as Pankaj. The event in Hyderabad was on Sunday (March 23). She was not given the location of the store and told that all details will be shared with her on her arrival in Hyderabad,” said a police official, adding, “On Friday (March 21), when the complainant arrived in the city, she was given accommodation in a flat, saying that it belonged to the store which she was to launch.”
Later, on Saturday, the complainant alleged that three women came into the apartment under the guise of assisting her for the event. After gaining her confidence, they allegedly forced her into prostitution. “When the survivor refused their demands, it led to an altercation between both parties,” said the police official.
Enraged by the complainant’s refusal, the three women allegedly assaulted her, locked her in the flat, and fled, leaving her in a semi-conscious state late on Saturday. “After gaining back her strength, the survivor called Dial 100. A team from Masab Tank police rushed to the spot and rescued her,” said the cop, adding that the 28-year-old earlier worked in Dubai for an event management firm and also works as a dancer in Mumbai. She started working in television soaps recently.
Special teams have been formed to nab the women suspects, said the official, adding that they used the store launch as bait to trap her and force her into the flesh trade.
