Panchayat Raj and Rural Development Minister Danasari Anasuya (Seethakka) has assured that the government will consider the formation of new Gram Panchayats if proposals are submitted in the prescribed format. Her statement came during a discussion in the Assembly on Monday, as the House unanimously passed The Telangana Panchayat Raj (Amendment) Bill, 2025.
79 gram panchayats from Schedule 8 and their merger into municipalities. The affected gram panchayats are located acres Bhadradri Kothagudem, Kamareddy, Khammam, Medchal-Malkajgiri, Mulkajgiri, Mulugu, Narayanapet, Peddapalli, Sangareddy, Siddipet, Warangal and Yadadri Bhuvanagiri districts.
Additionally, the Bill proposes the transfer of two Gram Panchayats in Siddipet district and one in Adilabad district from one mandal to another. In Nagarkurnool district, two Gram Panchayats are set to be reclassified from municipalities back to Gram Panchayats under Schedule 8. Further, certain Gram Panchayats in Khammam, Nagarkurnool and Vikarabad districts are slated for renaming.
Several members of the House urged the government to establish new Gram Panchayats to address the needs of people.
