27000 km up on my KTM 390 Duke: Key updates despite limited usage

The last big ride I did was on August 15 2024. I covered 750 kms in a day with my friend on his RS457.

Bhpian Saikishor recently shared this with other enthusiasts:

Odometer: 27025KM

March 5 marks 3 years of ownership of this beautiful machine. I am tired of typing “Usage has fallen drastically”, but it is what it is. I am barely finding time to start the bike. I am just taking it out once or twice a week for errands. I hope that changes in the near future. Main culprit for the low usage has to be me using a car for my daily commutes.

I removed the front number plate and placed a sticker on the front mudguard just for aesthetics. I like it this way. I also installed the shorter gen 1 Duke mirrors after seeing BHPian Shonit’s white Duke. These are slightly worse than the normal ones, but are still manageable and somehow the bike looks a little beefy with this setup.

Apart from that, I also lost interest on rides. Somehow it isn’t giving me the same feel of liberation that it used to give me before. I think this is just a phase for me and it will change with time. The last big ride I did was on August 15 2024. I covered 750 kms in a day with my friend on his RS457. I hope the riding bug bites me again soon.

I am expecting huge maintenance bills in this year. My mechanic told me to expect a big service bill once the bike crosses 30k kms, something like a Ducati Desmo service. Not sure how true this is, would appreciate if someone elaborates on this. Apart from that, once the bike reaches 30k kms, I might have to change my chain kit. Tyres need replacement in 2-3k kms, and the battery will need replacement later this year.

I never skipped on periodic maintenance, and will continue to diligently maintain Citrus to ensure that it runs at its best.

Got the bike properly washed on its anniversary, and here are some photo of the same:
