In a significant contribution to medical education and research, 74 individuals from various walks of life in the combined Warangal of Telangana have pledged to donate their bodies to Kakatiya Medical College (KMC) in the district, after their demise. The initiative was facilitated by the Telangana Eye, Organ and Body Donors Association (TEOBDA) , which collected consent forms from the volunteers and handed them over to the medical institution.
KMC Principal K Ram Kumar Reddy formally received the consent letters from the representatives of the TEOBDA and handed over the acknowledgement certificates [WILL] to them on Wednesday (March 25, 2025). These certificates will in turn be handed over to the 74 individuals who have committed to the noble cause.

Mortal remains of single donors can aid hundreds of future doctors
Addressing the gathering, Dr. Reddy highlighted the invaluable role of body donation in medical education. “The mortal remains of a single donor can aid in imparting medical lessons to hundreds of future doctors, significantly enhancing their understanding of human anatomy and scientific research,” he said.
Assistant Professor of Anatomy K. Sashi Kantha emphasised the importance of cadaveric study in the field, stating that such donations immensely benefit the Anatomy Department by providing hands-on learning opportunities for MBBS students.
Motivating people during Jana Vignana Vedika programmes
TEOBDA Hanumakonda president Parikipandla Venu said they had been motivating people, mainly during the Jana Vignana Vedika (JVV) programmes, to donate eyes and bodies to the hospitals and medical colleges. A former professor from NIT, Warangal, and a retired district officer were among those pledged to donate the bodies.
TEOBDA State president Upender Reddy, assistant vice president Padma, Warangal president K. Malla Reddy, general secretary Rajendra Prasad, and others were present at the occasion.
