Four individuals involved in multiple gold chain thefts across Hyderabad were arrested by the Afzalgunj police on Tuesday. The police said 2.5 tolas of stolen gold chains were recovered from them.
The accused, identified as 32-year-old Kamble Srinu, 36-year-old Md Mahboob, 45-year-old Vemula Srinu and 22-year-old Kamble Vikas were arrested when they were attempting to sell stolen jewellery in Gowliguda. Three other members of the gang, identified as Vijay, Karan, and Saddam, remain at large.
The arrest follows a complaint by Boddupalli Pradeep Kumar, a 22-year-old municipal employee from Medchal district stating that he lost his gold chain onboard a TGSRTC bus from Mallapur to MGBS bus stop on March 1.
During their questioning, the accused confessed to the crime. Investigation revealed that the accused were involved in multiple theft cases in Lalaguda, Narayanaguda, Afzalgunj and Sultan Bazaar. Efforts are underway to trace the remaining suspects.
